Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka
the Penguin, is making a play to seize the reins of Gotham’s crime world. Aside from a bat-sign in the final shot of the season finale, we never got a Robert Pattinson cameo in “The Penguin.” In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman? The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley
In his own series, however, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco user, preferring to smoke a cigar. An umbrella falls and the logo turns into the Warner Bros. logo.
Graham Norton stars: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024)
A direct sequel to the first episode, Matt Reeves’ The Batman and I think those who haven’t seen the latter will be a little lost. But I watched The Batman a while back, and this series did a wonderful job of quickly picking up where the movie left off without getting bogged down in a didactic recap. It captures both the aesthetic and the gritty tone of the film nicely, though the show has a lot more of a sly levity than the movie.
But it’s off to a great start so far
Like The Batman, Colin Farrell also does an excellent job of portraying the Penguin as a stereotypical mob “street guy.” " rude, profane, mercurial, and violent; but also knowledgeable, cunning, and able to read people. The character may have nothing to do with the comic book version, but I have my doubts about The Penguin series in its own right. and I don’t know if the Penguin’s shenanigans will be enough to sustain a full season.
